After nearly thirty years of fighting the Afghan healthcare system is in ruins. Hospitals lack beds for patients, medicines, as well as water or electricity. In Logar province in the east of Afghanistan, the Czechs from the Provincial Reconstruction Team realize the reconstruction of several healthcare facilities. The foundation stone for the construction of the General Clinic in the centre of Pole Alam province was laid on 31 March. The new General Clinic will extend the existing hospital capacity by additional 20 beds in its female and male parts, laboratory, nurse´s room, rooms for vaccination and sterilization and pharmacy.
