In a country where more than 85 per cent of its population live on agriculture, the access to water is absolutely crucial and the consequences of many years of struggles and draught have had serious impact on agriculture as well. The Czech Provincial Reconstruction Team in Logar province in eastern Afghanistan will focus i.a. on the repairs of the traditional irrigation systems. First of all, on the places where irrigation canals usually start- the weirs and karezes, as well as the reconstruction of the only one operating dam in the province.
